Hamptons drum circle
Driving down the pitch black street of Sagg Main with GPS not working at 9:30 p.m., we almost gave up on finding the weekly drum circle at Sagg Main Beach, called “Woodstock for rich people” by The New York Times. However, then we hit dozens of cars parked on the grass in no-parking zones. We followed theJumanji sounds to the beach where we walked upon what looked like a scene from Bonnaroo music festival: glowstick swords, dancing crowds, scattered bonfires and a a never-ending pulsating energy created by the 10+ drums playing. The crowd was diverse to the say the least, ranging from cig-smokin’ local fire dancers to Hawaiian-shirt martini-drinking Hamptonites. This event defintely breaks away from the Hampton’s strict regime of polo and cocktails and lets everyone get loose in the sand amongst the summer stars. The powerful and harmonic beats, perfect weather and irreplacable crowd make this an event we will definitely attend again.
