BANDS

All my friends are growing up and I’m not sure I like it. I mean it’s no wonder why I see more and more people dating younger ages, ya’ll are getting boring! I think you need a reminder of what it’s like to be youthful, energetic, charming and fun. I have two words for you old folks: Young Folks.

This song gets a 5 out of 5 from me. Everything about it from the rhythm section to the happy whistling perfectly suits the songs metaphoric theme of new beginning and rebellion against overall lameness and restrictions. Throughout the verses ex-Concretes singer Victoria Bergsman and Peter Morén are two recent lovers opening up to each other and conforming to embrace that rare feeling you have when you first get together with that special someone. The chorus takes the song to a whole another level as it addresses the subject of how young and old people are constantly struggling to identify themselves through so-called “styles” or what have you. A dangerous ideal which leads to many reservations, limits, boredom, severe indecision and useless comparisons. After pointing out this silliness, the duo end the chorus with the simple yet ingenious line, “All we care about is talking, talking only me and you.” I love that so much because we get caught up with so many things that really don’t matter in life that we forget how beautiful and fun life can be. So, to all you people who think so much that you can feel, all the ones who feel so much that you don’t think, this songs for you. Enjoy.

And we don’t care about the young folks
Talking about the young style
And we don’t care about the old folks
Talking about the old style too
And we don’t care about their own faults
Talking about our own style
All we care about is talking
Talking only me and you”
