Kevin Casey’s Sample Saturday – Herb Alpert / Biggie
After Biggie’s funeral, a motorcade of cars including the hearse carrying his casket proceeded through his old neighborhood in Brooklyn. When someone started blasting “Hypnotize” the mood on the crowded streets changed from mourning, to a celebration of his life… and his music. Herb Alpert could never have imagined that his music would have contributed to this historic scene in hip hop history.
When sampling records, it always pays off to listen to the whole track, because you never know when that break is going to kick in. In this case, it doesn’t kick in until 3:23 … take a listen.
