80Kidz – Frankie (Feat. The Shoes)
Frankie is one of my favorite tracks from last summer and since I didn’t post it then I’ll do it now. I first heard it while partying at Chloe back when they DJ’s played a little more than your typical Top 40 fair and it’s been in heavy rotation since. 80Kidz are the Japanese ambassadors for American indie music. They’re known in the States for their remixes of MGMT, Daft Punk, Lykki Li and Black Kids to name a few. Their sound is mostly hard new rave and made for moving, so if they happen to show up in your town don’t expect Bon Iver when you get there. It should also be noted that they have a very cute Japanese girl in the band – very important information. The vocals on this track are courtesy of The Shoes who sing about this guy named Frankie, aka the king of the night. Everyone loves Frankie and Frankie loves everyone.
Frankie is the sun
Walking in the streets
He’s the king of the night
Dancing on the beats”
I don’t know who this Frankie guy is but I like already like him. The production on this track is infectious and has great energy, much needed on the dreaded opposite of fun day Monday, enjoy.
