Down Here, It’s Our Time

I’m running on fumes again and I’m DJing a party Kevin Casey tonight so it looks like I won’t be getting any sleep a good two days. There was a time when I looked forward to catching Zz’s but being awake is becoming way to interesting to be worrying about sleep. It’s hard to explain but the more I’m thankful for everything around me the more I want to do and the more I want take advantage of being alive. Seems ironic since we’re alive by default but that’s one gift we sometimes take for granted…
It drops deep as it does in my breath, I never sleep, cause sleep is the cousin of death.” – Nas, Illmatic
I’ve always been intrigued by that lyrics but it’s finally starting to really make sense. I feel like our generation is finally getting ready to play significant roles and it’s time we start making the final push and work harder than ever to get in those positions. All the bloggers, all the musicians, all the fashion people, all the corporate kids, all of us are bringing that raw taste and freedom only underground can harvest but it’s time to light it up…
Don’t you realize? He was a pro, he never made it this far! Look how far we’ve come, we’ve got a chance. A chance at what Mikey getting killed?! Look if we keep going someones gonna get hurt, maybe dead… But still don’t you realize? The next time you see sky, it’ll be over another town. The next time you take a test, it’ll be in some other school. Our parents, they want the best of stuff for us. But right now, they got to do what’s right for them. Because it’s their time. Their time! Up there! Down here, it’s our time. It’s our time down here… – Goonies
Anyways, I was getting music ready for tonight and came across this remix of Beating Hearts and since I need to keep my music fast life to stay up I decided to post it. The original version of this song is a little intense and kinda plagued by that typical big synth electro house sound but he Louis La Roche is version is another story. The remix is still energetic but the arrangement is much more complete with an array of buildups and climaxes that keeps you on your toes the entire four minutes. I first heard about the La Roche on the infamous Annie Mac show and he’s been killing the remixes ever since, I would def recommend check it his catalog. Alright, I gotta finally eat something if I plan to do some uprising but check it out the jam and if your out tonight stop by Le Souk, I’ll be there with Kevin from 10 on, peace.
