Fixers – Iron Deer Dream (Chad Valley Remix)

I think as I’m learning all the details about music in general, I’m learning to appreciate the things that are actually there in a song, as opposed to the norm of picking at the things that are not there, or just not there correctly. If that makes any sense? Anyhow, I wanted to touch on something that represented the city to me for today’s post since I’m heading back to my beloved NYC, in what’s technically just a few days – but seems like a lifetime away. I wanted to pick up on something that could slowly put me back at my place in the city – waking up on a bright sunny day, as the sun comes crashing through my blinds and as those familiar NYC sirens come blaring through my windows. AHHH NYC!
Running through that list of songs to listen to and review, I decided to go with the “Iron Deer Dream” remix by Chad Valley. The piano melodies instantly capture me on this the entire way through as well as the cut up vocals provided by “Iron Deer Dream” that Chad Valley gingerly sprinkled in and created some crafty hooks from. The moment this record begins with ‘When the moon in the morning…” you grab a familiar “Beach Boys” tone but with some new freshness that both instantly and simultaneously command your attention. The record goes everywhere you expect it to on this, enchanting you with it’s airy tones seemingly flying around like in a very sound-scapey Saved By The bell type dream. The groove from the bass line along with the dancey drum loops and just the overall dancey feel of the entire remix, make this Chad Valley masterpiece good enough for the New York office staring uptown from NoHo (NYC) on a sunny city Wednesday afternoon or equally good enough for the: “Getting Ready To Hit Up Mr. H – Over At The Mondrian Soho, On A Thursday Night” play list. Enjoy
