A$AP Rocky – Trilla

BANDS

First of all, DR was off the hook! We played on the beach to an amazing crowd, Dynasty Electric absolutely lit the place on fire and everyone had an epic time. Of course we had the music banging louder than the rest so the police showed up to shut us down at about 3:30 AM right in the middle of the madness. Somehow the owners convinced the cops to let us back on and the party just got wilder after that, we ended up rockin till about 6:30 in the morning and somehow I woke up in a beach chair about an hour before my flight back. That was hands down one of the best times I’ve had in a while so thanks to all the sponsors, ShaveUrLegz and all party animals that rocked with us the whole night.

Needless to say, I’m taking it easy this week so I’ve been gravitating to music with a laid back disposition and A$AP Rocky’s latest work Trilla is on the money. Since our feature on the Harlem, NYC native a few weeks ago A$AP has pretty much taken off, his record Peso is getting spins on Hot 97 and the bloggers have embraced him with open arms. The A$AP crew calls their brand of music Trillwave and I can’t get enough of it. It’s slow, it’s stylish, it’s not dance music and it’s new. I love old school Hip Hop as much as the next man but old school fanatics are taking nostalgia a little too far. It’s gotten to the point that I think all the love for the past is holding the genre back from growing and expanding it’s expression. Old heads like Jay-Z aren’t going to do it, it’s going to happen with the youth so it’s nice to hear some new voices taking a crack at it. Anyways, NYC is finally making headlines in the Hip Hop world and it feels good to say that, enjoy…

East coast mother f&$kers making all the noise, all the noise..”
